BMC will go door-to-door to collect data for census

BMC will go door-to-door to collect data for census, UID Linah Baliga The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staffers will come knocking at your door to collect data for the census survey starting May 1. The civic body has coupled this with collecting data for the Centre's unique identification card (UID) project. About 18,500 enumerators and 3,087 supervisors from the BMC have been appointed for the job. Their training will commence from April 2. Manisha Mhaiskar, additional municipal commissioner, said they will receive the questionnaire for the survey after the training. The data collected by the BMC workers will also be used for the National Population Register (NPR). "For NPR, enumerators will have to fill up certain forms. It is mandatory for one enumerator to cover at least 150 houses in 45 days. NPR activity is important and hence it is required of Mumbaikars to be present at home during this period," said Mhaiskar.
